Garmin Update Kills Third-Party Charts

ATTENTION GARMIN USERS:

In the latest firmware update, Garmin has removed support for third-party charts.

As of April 1, 2018, if you download and install the latest update from the Garmin support website, you will be greeted with the above screen when you try to view many of our charts.  It reads “Map was disabled. Could not authenticate map. For more information see the Owner’s Manual.”

Garmin devices running previous versions of the software are not affected. New off-the-shelf Garmin units will still work with our products, as they were manufactured months (or years) before this software update was released.

We have developed a workaround, and we expect to have most of our charts running on Garmin again within the next couple months. In the meantime, our advice is DO NOT UPDATE GARMIN SOFTWARE.

If you’ve already updated and now your charts are broken, email us at info@strikelines.com. We’ve got a couple of temporary fixes that will get you back on the water.

Sorry for the hassle. At least this didn’t happen in the middle of Snapper Season….
